Captain America: 'Skinny' Epic Fail

There is only one thing that awed me on this film -  when director Joe Johnston made Chris Evans (CAmerica/Steve Rodgers) skinny and lousy young man who ambitions to be a great soldier. The rest? Failed me.

Johnston revealed that one option for "Captain America" was to superimpose Evans' head on a skinny body double, much like the technology employed by filmmaker David Fincher in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" when Brad Pitt had to age backward.

The director said that the body double could not move like him. "As hard as he tried to watch Chris and duplicate the movements, it just wasn't the same" Joe added.

Instead of the body double/superimposed head, the filmmakers used a "shrinking" technique and computers to basically erase portions of Evans' strong physique on screen.

The output was just so fine and smooth. For that, CA deserves a merit of excellence in terms of editing.
But, as I have said, that editing success to shrink Evans' strong physique was the only feature on this film that caught my interest while watching this 'skinny' film as I call it.

The fusion of the modern technology applied on a year 1940's setting annoyed me. I could smell flaws if  you would really dig out the materials used while the story was progressing.

How come the characters can build a very sophisticated guns and underground laboratories while their mobile radios were still playing on low frequency? There were futuristic vehicles and guns but they were showing a video clips on black and white? They have built such invulnerable shield of Steve but how come they cannot build a fortress that is made of steel as powerful as Steve's? How come they cannot supply bullet proofs for their soldiers? Even the villainous organization was vulnerable of the old fashioned 'WWII' riffles?

Yes, I understand your points readers, that the film was trying to establish the retro setting as if happening during the 'Hitlers' days. What I want to say is, the components on the film do not work relatively. Will you teach your pupils under the heat of the sun when 'people' nowadays can build concrete buildings for classrooms with aircon if you wish?Advanced technology was applied on the film where cellphones do not exist yet!

I felt like I'm fooling myself in 2 hours. Yup, most of the suspense and adventure films do not really happen and everything is the cream of the writers imagination. But this time,CA abused that reality.

For entertainment, BIG YES! It passed.
The funny lines and humorous delivery of script made me laugh.Brilliant. But, forgive me, everytime CAmerica attacked where supposedly TOTAL ACTION happens, was just so boring and 'cheezy'. Red Skull looked so furious and powerful together with his laser boys. BUT how did he die failed the supposedly 'exciting' part of the plot. It was a formulaic super hero plot. Nothing new except for the shrinking Evan.

I don't have to raise a blue flag to praise the VFX and some editing stuff, that would not be necessary. I have Transformers, Harry Potter, Iron Man and many more. As I've said, nothing new. END of the 'skinny' minded films.

P.S. the film deserves to be rated 76% in www.rottentomatoes.com.

Bagyong Juaning, 30 killed,more missing

Once again, Philippines is suffering from another storm's fury. This is not normal anymore since we are experiencing series of storms manifesting climate change. But still, its not too late to heal our mother earth. It's not too late to change lifestyle and its not too late to help one another.
Meanwhile,

Also at the briefing were key government officials and humanitarian agency officials such as Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) secretary general Gwendolyn Pang and PRC-Quezon City chapter administrator Annie Torres.
Ramos said Cielo Adelina Sarte Salceda, 88, slipped on the wet floor while on the way to the toilet at about 1 a.m. She sustained head injuries after hitting the stairs. There was power cut off when the victim slipped on the floor.
The Salceda residence in Polangui, Albay was also flooded, reports reaching NDRRMC said.
The elder Salceda was taken to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRRTH) in Legazpi City where she died at 6:54 a.m.
Albay residents left messages of sympathy for the family on the governor’s Facebook Account.
At least 10 power lines were down in Quezon Province, Bicol region and Pangasinan due to strong winds, NDRRMC said.
Ramos said most of the fatalities were from Albay, while the rest came from Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Marinduque, Cavite, Quezon and Iloilo provinces.
Nine people were reported missing as of 6 a.m. Wednesday while a total of 129,576 families or 645,137 individuals are now in evacuation centers nationwide.
Ramos said Juaning dumped heavy rains in Albay and Camarines Sur, causing floods. “Those two provinces are underwater,” he told reporters.
Juaning made a landfall around 9 a.m. in Casiguran, Aurora and was forecast to move to Central Luzon and exit in the area of Pangasinan and La Union on Thursday morning.
Six domestic flights were canceled Wednesday morning due to inclement weather brought by tropical storm “Juaning.”
As of 9:30 a.m., the affected flights include four from Cebu Pacific and two from Air Philippines Express.
A total of 533 passengers were stranded in the ports of Mamburao (44), Batangas (300), Puerto Real (39), and Lucena (150). In Region 2, a total of 22 passengers were stranded in Aparri, Cagayan.
In Region IV-A, MV Henrik with 15 crew members on board, was swept away while at the vicinity waters of Balesin Island and Polilio Island last Tuesday morning, July 26.
Last July 25, two and four motorized banca went fishing at the vicinity waters of Jomalig, Balesin Island, Polilio and Patnanungan area. The names of the fishing boats are FB Kenrick and FB Kimberly.
MB Kenrick remained missing.
The owner of the boat was trying to locate the missing boat at the nearby Barangays of Pamatdan and Bislian, Polilio where the boat was last seen.
In Region IV-B, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel rescued nine fishermen from Dalahican, Lucena City, whose fishing boats (Nea and Norma) capsized in Libtangin, Gasan, Marinduque.
NDRRMC said continuous rains and floodings in Region 4-A affected the ricefields in Barangays Villa Hermosa, Magilayan, San Roque, Tan-ag, Ilaya, Bakungan, Lalaguna, and Rizal Barrio, all in Lopez, Quezon.
A total of 171 families or 904 persons were affected by floods in five barangays in Mulanay, Quezon. They evacuated to Mulanay Session Hall and houses of friends/relatives.
Three barangays of San Francisco, Quezon (Poblacion 2, Cawayan 1 and 2) were also affected by floodings (waist-deep high), affecting 50 families or 250 persons. They were evacuated at Central Annex School, ABC Building, and Parochial Church.

Back to Black Amy Winehouse

When Amy Winehouse was reported died and trending on social networks, most of my friends didn't know who is Amy. Even myself, I really am not into her music.

Amy has a resemblance to Lady Gaga's face. But, definitely, they don't have the same trip. Winehouse suffers from her addiction to drugs and alcohol. And finally, she was drowned with her black image--her black music.

Amy Winehouse died from a suspected drug overdose, Sky News reported, but at present police are treating her death as "unexplained," the broadcaster said.

The London Ambulance Service was called to her home in north London just after 4:00pm local time but medics were unable to save her life, saying she was "beyond help," according to Sky News.

"On arrival, officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene," a police statement said.

"Inquiries continue as to the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained. There have been no arrests in connection with this incident," Police Superintendent Raj Kohli told reporters outside her home.

"I am aware of reports suggesting that the death was a result of a suspected drugs overdose, but I would like to re-emphasize that no postmortem examination has yet taken place and it would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of death," he added.

Winehouse's body was removed from her apartment late Saturday, where grieving fans gathered to leave tributes and flowers. An autopsy is expected to be conducted either Sunday or Monday.

Winehouse had last been seen publicly Wednesday at the iTunes festival in North London.

While she didn't sing, Winehouse staggered on stage and begged the crowd to buy her protege, 15-year-old Dianne Bromfield’s new album.

Own a house and lot now! See the housing projects in Davao City

Last month she cancelled her European tour following a disastrous performance in Belgrade, Serbia where she gave an incoherent performance appearing disoriented and drunk.

Winehouse had a long history of substance abuse, including not only alcohol but heroin and cocaine. As recently as June she had to cancel a planned 12-stop European tour after appearing drunk and struggling to remember her own lyrics at the tour's first stop in Belgrade, Serbia.

Prior to beginning the tour, she spent a week at the Priory Clinic in London, which offers treatment for addiction problems.

"Everyone involved with Amy is shocked and devastated. Our thoughts are with her family and friends," a spokesman for the singer said.

Her father, Mitch Winehouse, a part-time singer himself, was en route back to London from New York Saturday, where he had traveled to perform at Manhattan's Blue Note Jazz Club.

Funny PNoy 'fake' Sona hits fb

The SONA below was drafted by some witty writers out there and was published in Newsbreak and became a hit on facebook.

State of the Nation Address of
His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino III
President of the Philippines
to the Congress of the Philippines
Session Hall of the House of Representatives
July 25, 2011

Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.
Vice President Jejomar Binay, I know Junjun was just trying to be witty, but it offended Kris and me.
Chief Justice Renato Corona, tigilan mo ang Hacienda Luisita. Why don’t you distribute Iggy Arroyo’s hacienda?
Former Presidents Fidel Valdez Ramos, Joseph Ejercito Estrada, and she who shall not be named for she is absent.
Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate; distinguished members of the diplomatic corps;

To you who were once a President, this advice: Mind your own district. Mind your own hairdo. If you really want something done, just be a Congresswoman. Don’t pussyfoot. Don’t pander. And don’t wear your neck brace in public.

Save your future today. Housing in Davao City
There isn’t a day I do not work or a waking moment when I do not think through a work-related problem. Even my critics cannot begrudge me for the long hours I put in.
Our people deserve a government that works just as hard as they do.

6:00 pm         Me-time without media
Look at my picture, ang haggard-haggard ko

Why do people marry? Because of lack of knowledge. Why do people separate? Because of lack of experience. Why do people remarry? Because of loss of memory. I urge Congress to pass the Divorce Bill.

I also remain committed to push the passage of a law for responsible parenthood. But I understand that it’s not a priority measure of the legislative executive development advisory council (LEDAC).
Halimbawa:
An Act Regulating the placement of billboards. To all advertisers, don’t distort nature. There are no volcanoes along the Pasig River.
An Act Prohibiting the use of the words “Muslim” and “Christian” in Mass Media.

And finally, in place of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill, I enjoin Congress to enact a law banning media coverage of my flings. I’ve had enough of gossipy and trivial reporting like Newsbreak’s Inside Track piece on my Hotdog concert date.

And this is a matter of personal and foreign affairs.
