Davao Flash Flood AfterMath

In Matina Pangi, there are areas that relief goods takers cannot access due to broken bridges while rescuers kept on discovering dead bodies along the river banks of Balusong River. Most of the casualties are kids who were not able to grab their parents hand for they were sleeping deep. No one was actually believing that flood was happening after noticing that the water level is rising. And, split seconds, lives were lost.

The photo shows of a kid who tries to save his school bag and play cards after the flash flood struck Davao City last June 28,2011 at 10 in the evening. Devianttraveler.com was able to roam around the affected area. This is the saddest report I have heard and witness in my entire life. It was my first time to see also people work hand in hand to clean their houses from mud brought by the flood.
Hundreds of lessons were drawn after the flash flood. From approving subdivisions even without proper drainage sytem, human abusive acts on nature and residents who do not take life seriously and ignore signals that living along the river banks is like waiting "kamatayan".
Hope we have learned from this horrific experience of Davao where Davaowenyos truly believe its a typhoon free city but flash flood vulnerable. Tsk tsk tsk

Flood in Davao City,30 dead

(Excerpt from Ver Bermudez column of Davao Daily Tribune)
BAD TO WORSE. There’s no doubt that the flooding problem in Davao City has turned from bad to worse.

Last night’s tragedy, which reportedly claimed precious lives, should now prompt city officials to give Davao a categorical answer to the flooding problem.

Enough of the alibis. Davao City had already heard so much about climate change, increased volume of rainfall and lack of funds. We cannot continue discussing the causes of the flood and then watch how people are being eaten alive by the floodwaters. This is not to mention the trauma that last night’s flood has brought to many Dabawenyos.

It is not easy to handle such situation. We have heard stories on how Davao residents climbed trees, rooftops and pedestrian overpasses knowing that their lives were already at stake. It was more difficult to see – much more, experience – how parents tried to save their infants and young kids while floodwaters were on the rise. If someone would cry out of fear that their dogs could die in the floodwaters, what more if it was already the life of their child? Or their own lives?

Here, everyday is always FRIDAY

I just had a good dinner at "Thank Goodness It's Friday"restaurant at Abreeza Mall, Davao City. T.G.I. Friday's (often shortened to "Friday's" in most countries, and stylized "FRiDAY'S", or "T.G.I.'s" in the United Kingdom) is an American restaurant chain focusing on casual dining, with over 1000 restaurants in over 51 countries. The company is a unit of the Carlson Companies. Its name is taken from the expression TGIF. The company asserts that it stands for "Thank Goodness It's Friday," although as of 2010 some television commercials for the chain have also made use of the alternative phrase, "Thank God It's Friday's." The chain is known for its appearance, with red-striped canopies, brass railings, Tiffany lamps and frequent use of antiques as decor
This restaurant is crazily unique. What exactly the reason why a restaurant sells is the power of costumer service. From the main door, TGIF has a receptionist who will guide and give you service crew. With the positive aura inside you would enjoy the rest of the night. The service crews dance while serving people with their very unique costume made of recycled materials. Costumer service is the soul of the business while the food is the body of the resto business. There are hundreds of restaurant owners who do not apply such. They never realize how powerful the element of uniqueness.I tell you,
It feels like it's friday. Happy day for tomorrow is weekend. The ambiance of the resto makes you feel to celebrate life and eat more. This dinner I voraciously ate much with their grilled Salmon and Porkchop. I never tasted such delicious cuisine in my life, only in TGIF. I would love to come back and hopefully on the 30th, ANG MAMAHAL NG FOOD!!!
