Life under the bridge

My heart bleeds every time I see scenario like this. The innocent child in the pic was taken during our shooting for video teaser for the coming National Charismatic Movement. This child is one of the youngsters who live with their families under the well known bridge of Davao "Bankerohan bridge". Under it,squatters rose and keep increasing. Their houses made of waste woods and plastics attached to the foundation of the bridge. The attitude of the residents are really different. They used to say bad words as their normal way of communicating of each other. Children swim to this dirty river of Davao. With the waste flow in the river, youngsters are engrossed swimming without knowing the consequences. Their parents? Wala lang chismis disregarding their children. I could not blame them.
I can see an ironic point there. We are tasked to have a video teaser for a documentary of a church anniversary whose primary concern is to raise and ask money to any organization who would like to give any amount. The target is 18 million pesos for the plan of building an ambitious compound of a charismatic group. As the documentarist, I really feel guilty. Using the images of poverty just to raise money? Grrrr damn it. Wala na ako magawa trabaho lang.
